Right now, my commute is about 30 minutes, which barely gives me enough time to listen to the BBC and a little bit of NPR/PRI.

Once you've heard "Marketplace," "The California Report," "Day to Day," "Europe Today," "Analysis," "From Our Own Correspondent", etc. etc., how could you ever give up the commute?!?!

You listen to pretty much whatever you want all day. Why do you need to do that in a car???

Because I don't know how to sit still and just listen to the radio when I'm at home or at work. It takes being in a car with the world going by for me to be able to listen to a show like "Marketplace" without heading off to go fix something...

Upshot is when I'm at home or at work, I listen to music while I do other things, whereas I listen to discussions while I'm in the car. (That's another reason I'm not a huge fan of carpooling; friends and passengers just talk right over all the _interesting_ stuff with their drivel; much like tryng to watch a football game at a party, it doesn't work!)

Epiphany: I guess commuting is _my_ Alone TimeĀ®.
